About Us
The mission and purpose of the Peacemaker Project Student Academic Association is to provide experiential learning opportunities that expand on the Department of Political Science's mission to "help liberal arts students who are politically interested and concerned" become "politically literate graduates" who practice respectful disagreement and openness to new ideas.
This association is designed to:
- Provide a place for students to express their thoughts and opinions.
- Expose political science students to diverse perspectives.
- Encourage friendships across the political divide in order to enhance the Department of Political Science's mission of instilling "in students a desire and ability to shape events in communities states, the church, and the world."
The Peacemaker Project provides opportunities for students to apply principles they have learned in Political Science courses related to political depolarization, American government and politics, the risks of political extremism, state and local government, and political parties and elections, particularly in election years.
By addressing these particular needs, the Peacemaker Project Student Association assists the Department of Political Science in enabling students to answer President Nelson's call to "become peacemakers."
